I am thankful for my parents.
I know everyone thinks this, but I really do have the best parents ever. Quick background, I grew up in an ordinary home, mom and dad both working, one younger brother. Being the oldest I had to be the responsible one, but it was a good thing looking back now. With my mom being a working mom we had to fight for ourselves and get through. I was bought up in a Christian home, by two beautiful individuals that always gave us their best. We didn't have everything but we had everything we needed. My dad became an engineer when I was fifteen and from there life changed a bit but my life in general was a good solid life with a solid foundation.
Now let's get down to business. When you get married and when you become a parent you start realizing for the first time in life what those two people really did.
I am thankful for my mom.Â
I only trust one other person with my children, especially all at once with a complete good peaceful heart and that is my mom. She is stronger than IRONMAN, she can handle anything and I am so thankful for this woman in my life. She is my rock, my anker, she is my pilar of strength and motivates me daily to hopefully one day be something close to what she is.  The other day she was booked for an operation, which she scheduled so carefully because she wouldn't miss her grand daugters graduation on the same night. (It was a quick in and out kinda operation, but still.) I got sick with a really bad ear infection and she cancelled her operation to come help out at my house. This woman is unstopable and I am so thankful that she is my mom! She is still like a lioness, walking around wanting to protect me, I have to constantly water things down with her, because she will destroy anything that messes with me and the rest of the family. I guess some things will never change.
I am thankful for my dad.Â
As men get older, I find they grow quiet. My dad who has always been my prince on a white horse and my hero doesn't say too much these days but when he speaks I listen. I am thankful for his wisdom and leadership, I am thankful for the kind of grandfather he is to my kids, and especially the kind of husband he is to my mom. He really leaves my jaw on the ground sometimes and although no one is perfect, he's not far from it. He too is walking around like a tribal king, ready to attack whatever wants to harm his people.
..............................................................................................
Let's face it, not a lot of people can handle four kids for three weeks while mom and dad'soff to dream destinations like Paris, London and New York. They did this, for us ... on their request. I am so thankful for everything these two people have done for us, meant to us and give up for us. I am so proud to be their daughter and God could not have given me better parents. They live between South Africa and Ghana, so they are not always around but when they are here, I don't want to let them go.
I really was blessed with the best and I am thankful for that!
