For He knows ....

Updated: Jun 15, 2023

1 John 5:14 - This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

I have this friend... She became my friend when I was nine, and trust me when I say it wasn't good from the start. It was really salt and pepper -  BUT we found each other at a sleepover birthday party in standard 2.  Since then we've shared many good memories, sad memories, fought like sisters, gone to Germany together for a year, split but came back together, had babies together, and we are sitting 28 years later and still going strong! She's more than just an old friend, she is my sister from another mister. There is just no other way to describe it. She was the one that introduced me to my husband in January 1999, 19 years ago on the day of her dad got married.

What's my point? She has gone through really tough and difficult times in the past 5 years. Yes bad choices, and with that comes consequences but it's been hard to see her go through these difficult times. I've always seen her as the most beautiful girl in the world, she has so much talent and so much potential.... I saw this back when I was 9 already. Unfortunately life has tossed and turned her into a tornado, one that she had little control over, however she's always managed to keep her head above water. She is amazing, the way she makes a difference in my daily life is indescribable and I don't think she will ever really understand how much she really means to me. Anyway.... she has reached really low points in her life, so low that I wonder if many people have ever seen that kind of darkness but this girl (mom) is covered by prayer. No flood can drown her. She had this amazing mom that passed away about five years ago and it was there that her world changed as she knew it.

Her mom. She was an angel that came down to earth! Her patience and kindness, her love and forgiveness is something you recognised from the moment you met her. She was an incredible woman and I know how much she prayed for my friend. She adored God and the love she shared with her daughter was from above. She never stopped praying for her, she covered her daughter in prayer until the day she went to be with our Heavenly Father.

Back to the story... So with that said you understand when I say she has always been covered by a wall of prayer no matter what, and she is still today. I have taken the responsibility to help her get everything back on track because I know what this girl is capable of and how far she can go. So spending time with her on a daily basis is good for me, she does so much for me and in return I dedicate prayer to her life - into her life. Being with her and spending so much time with her I see her needs and I know her dreams - makes it really easy for me to continue praying for her. (This all happens behind the scenes.) She left town on Wednesday last week to go visit her husband and on the day she was meant to come home she  landed up winning a Mercedes A200 just like that.

Background. She sold her car a couple of years ago to start a new venture, it was the last thing she had left. All her hopes were in this venture otherwise she would never have sold her car, unfortunately things did not work out the way she had hoped. We speak about it often, and I know having a car was one of her biggest hearts desires. Having your own wheels in South Africa is important, we don't have perfect public transport.

Back to the story. So just like that she went to Monte Casino with her friend and won a car. When she told me about it I was so happy for her. I only had one thing to say and it was "for He knows the desires of your heart." I sit and think about this and am amazed and how our God pays attention to such small detail in our lives. I don't believe in luck, I don't believe in coincidence and I don't believe in being at the right place at the right time. I believe in a mighty God that not only sees us but adores us. I believe He reaches out to us and spoils us every now and again just because He can. He's got us covered, He never leaves us even if we left Him. He waits with patience and watch over us until we return like lost sheep. I see His work in this just to show her what He is capable of!  What a testimony!

Psalm 37:4 - Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.

Purpose of my story. We face many difficult times through out life, we fall, we get up and this repeats itself many times but God never leaves us. He's always there, watching over us. No matter how low or how high, He knows our deepest hearts desires and He sees all our sorrows and happy places. If we search deep enough we will see how God is there every day in every situation. There's at least one miracle in each day, we must just see it. We have to look for the good, find it and own it. Especially in today's world where everything seems fast and crazy.
