For He is Love

Updated: Jun 15, 2023

Valentine's Day Where did this day of love start? Where does it come from? Fun fact - It's actually a very very old tradition and goes as far back as the 5th century. It's very interesting, I went and red about this day. Let me share some of  it with you. The Catholic Church recognizes at least three different saints named Valentine or Valentines  all of whom were martyred. One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine’s actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death. You can go read more about the other stories here below  http://www.history.com/topics/valentines-day/history-of-valentines-day So today millions and millions of people all over the globe are celebrating love, making vows and fall in love, but there's also many people who don't celebrate this day which is probably more realistic especially if you can buy the same flowers a week later for half the price.

Celebrate LOVE  I believe love is something we need to celebrate, any day of the year, gosh every day of the year. It doesn't have to be on the 14th February ONLY. We can't survive without love, love is the one thing that conquers all, it gives us a sense of power, confidence, acceptance, hope and self-worth. God speaks about love in the 10 commandments where He commanded His people to love others as themselves and to love God above all. Not only did He speak about love in the old testament, He repeats it so many times in the Bible and then He tells us about the Fruits of the Spirit in the new testament and gives us the very first one, LOVE. God also explains love in detail to us so that we can FULLY understand the exact meaning of this word - 1 Corinthians 13: 4 - 5  "love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs." If we can learn to love unconditionally we will find a life filled with peace. Love can be the answer to any problem, and I'm not talking about red heart kind of love only. I am talking about loving people in a way that they can see a light shine from within, light covers all darkness and so does love with hate. Love is a choice, and although it's not always easy it's the one thing that can set you free. Love unconditionally every day.

1 John 4:18 - 19 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears in not made perfect in love. We love because He first loved us.
